Depicted on an integral plinth with its head turned sharply to the left, the mane a mass of flame-like wavy locks, with large deep-set eyes, incised details for the whiskers, with the left fore-paw crossed over the right 21 in. (53.3 cm) high PROVENANCE Classical and Near Eastern Antiquities, Property of Mrs. Gladys Olcott, Edward J. Smith and other owners, Parke-Bernet, New York, 15 February 1962, lot 73.
