Title : An Egyptian Blue Glazed Composition Cartouche Pendant Of Akhenaten, Period : 1350
Provenance : Formerly in the collection of Henry Wallis (1830-1916). In later life the Pre-Raphaelite artist, Wallis, became a noted scholar and collector of antiquities, his publications included works on Egyptian, Classical, Medieval and Islamic art. Wallis travelled widely in the Mediterranean and Egypt, where he met the archaeologist Sir W. M. Flinders Petrie. Similar restrictions may apply in other countries.This titulary of the King/Aten was not used after Year 9 of Akhenaten's reign. The sunshades were usually temples at the periphery of the site of Tell el Amarna, dedicated to royal women. The Aten was the span of Time, the creator of the Universe.
