This is the rating and price for ALPHONSE EUGENE JULES ITIER (1802-1877)

Description : Column capital and ceiling of the temple of Dendera Quarter-plate daguerreotype. 1845-46. Titled in ink in French in an unknown hand on the reverse of the backing paper. Paper passe-partout. LITERATURE See: Peeters, Palmen en Tempels: 19th-century Photography in Egypt, p. 7. NOTES Itier was one of the earliest of the many French photographers to photograph in Egypt, where he stopped on his return voyage to France, after a three-year customs service mission in China. Itier sojourned in Egypt to photograph ruins of the ancient civilization. The rubble, which had accumulated around the temple through the ages, enabled him to be within an arm's length of the column capital and to take this surprisingly modern detail.
