Description : Worn in ritual performances, this incredibly detailed hand carved mask has an articulated jaw, tattooed face and headdress. Idiok masks represent destructive spirits, characters who died under troubled circumstances or the spirits of ancestors who violated traditions in their life. Size of mask 8 1/2 H, 11 H on included custom stand. Family collection of an esteemed diplomat and ambassador amassed during travel and work circa 1960-1990s in the medical field providing charitable advanced medical care throughout the African continent and internationally.
