Description : TWO AFRICAN CARVED WOOD MASKS, H 7 - 15:Group of two African masks. One with elongated face and pursed lips with a horn protruding from top of head, with measurements of H 15, W 5.25, and D 4.25. The other with small head and burlap netting to back along with a mouth with having bared teeth, having measurements of H 7, W 6.75, and D 10. The first example is a Guro Gu mask, the hollow ovid form, the pointed chin and mouth below the delicate straight nose framed by slit eyes and arched brows, with coiffure in the Kowangi style (resembling a giant hornbill with a tuft of feathers). The second example is a Chokwe Pwo mask, the face with open mouth showing teeth, with scarification to forehead and cheeks, supporting a woven fiber headpiece. Both having a reddish-brown to brown patina.
