Description : AFRICAN CARVED WOOD KONGO MASK/SCULPTURE - Both Congo Republics and Angola. Although not frequenjtly made by Kongo people, masks were worn during initiation ceremonies and funerals and seem to be embodied with judiciary powers. This mask, which has no eye slits, has geometric scarification lines, pronouned dentition, and an unusual knob is above the forehead. Condition good, minor finish losses and cracking. Attributed to late 19th, early 20th century. 12.5H x 7.75W
