Description : [Africa]. Missionary (photo-)archive, containing num. (sm.) photographs, photogr. picture postcards, a ringbound folder and 13 audio-tapes (±1922-1960). = I.a. a large number of photographs of missionaries of the order of the Witte Paters (Sociëteit van de Missionarissen van Afrika, active i.a. in Tanzania, but also founders of the Lavigerie College, a seminary in Santpoort), missionary teachers and their pupils (occas. w. Sursum Corda stamp on verso) and photogr. portraits of African (Tanzanian) and European catholic priests/ monks, w. names on verso (Archbishop of Dar es Salaam and Sabora, fr. Laurent, fr. Daniel and Heel de congregatie van Bayozefili) or contained in envelopes with owner's names written on lid (i.a. Pater Hensen, Broeder Engelbertus, Br. Paul-André and Br. Franciscus-Marie), incl. 25 large photogr. portraits of African people, partly mounted on boards. Also with a large number of photographs of Dutch (missionary) pupils (in class, on holiday, playing sports), probably of the Lavigerie College. The ringbound folder contains typescript annots. on African tribal art, the audio-tapes have no description on the spools (not played by us).
