Private Collection, FranceCondition report : Please note, there is loss of the white pigment within the engraved lines to the front of the shield. There is a large crack to the proper left extending up from the handle almost to the top of the shield. There are two further cracks at the top of the shield which stretch over the top to the reverse. There is a small chip to the very top of the shield. The wear is consistent with the object’s age and use. Subject to the above, the shield appears to be in good condition overall with no visible evidence of repair or restoration. Please note this lot is mounted on and sold with a custom made stand.
