Description : African / Tribal Art: A late 19th century Bamileke Mu Po figure from grasslands Cameroons, used by healers during curative rites or for anti-witchcraft purposes which serve as representation of their patients together with a Makonde helmet mask from Mozambique, many of these masks known as Lipico are decorated with human hair and used as a mark of a boy's initiation into adulthood. Such face masks are all individual and represent a portrait of the carver's choice such as this one which is a Portuguese sporting a moustache, mid 20th century (2)
