Description : A large Etruscan Bucchero alabastron, c. 610 – 550 BC, with elongated tear-shaped body and wide, flat rim. The surfaces retain some of the vertical burnishing beneath light deposits. H: 12 ¼ in (31 cm). The shape is Egyptian in origin and was transmitted through Greece to Etruria. Ex UK private collection acquired from Herakles Numismatics and Antiquities, Munich in early 2000's, previously belonging to a German private collection formed in the 1970's.
