Description : A group of 3 Roman terracotta figures, c. 1st-3rd Century AD. The first a maiden wearing a robe and hood and retaining some of its red color, H: 12.7 cm. The second also a maiden wearing a robe and a hood not pulled all the way forward on her head, exposing some of her hair, H: 14.6 cm. The third is a figure of a bearded man carrying something in his arms, possibly food or other crop, H: 14.6 cm. Ex property from the collection of Joseph Klein (1899-1987), New York City. Mr. Klein sought out and acquired these souvenirs as part of his vast collecting interests. Said to have collected in the manner of an 18th century connoisseur, his overall collection showcased his diverse array of artifacts acquired over a period of 45 years and included the art of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome.
