Description : A Grand Tour, late 19th Century AD, Roman-style bronze oil lamp depicting a man and a woman at at water fountain. The woman is pouring a vessel into the fountain. A lion headed handle stems from the back of the lamp and curves back over the center of the lamp. L: 3 3/4 in (9.6cm), D: 2 in (5.2cm). Ex Property from the Collection of Joseph Klein (1899-1987), New York, New York Mr. Joseph Klein sought out and acquired these souvenirs as part of his vast collecting interest. Said to have collected in the manner of a 18th century connoisseur, his overall collection showcased his diverse array of artifacts acquired over a period of 45 years and included the art of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome.
