Description : A FRINGED DANCE MASK, BAPENDE, CONGO With a wide flattened face, the mouth, cheeks and temples highlighted with white pigment, with asymmetric downward sloping slit eyes, the forehead is surmounted by a fibrous cap, a fringe of raffia surrounds the whole face, 50cm high, Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Museum of African Art, Washington D.C. 1971 - 1972.
