Beschreibung : Satirical Note Rarity 1878 Greenback Issuance Satirical Note, Fiat Money for the Sum of $50, Choice Very Fine. A historical financial flyer in the guise of an oversize banknote. It is printed on green paper which is quite appropriate as it attacks the issuance of the greenback notes which were not popular with the general public. There several unusual vignettes including a balloon, a horse driven hearse, a blind man grasping a light post and a set of dentures! On the back is a man holding an umbrella being showered with greenbacks. Some of the legends equate the greenback issue with the locusts of ancient Egypt. Even the Serial Number is a gargantuan 17 digit number. An exceptional piece of satirical currency which is certainly one of the rarer types as we have not seen one before. There are a few small foxing spots on the edge, otherwise it is quite attractive.
