Beschreibung : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1303 BCE. A hand-built redware amphora shaped from marl clay covered in russet pigment. The apple-shaped body rests atop a planar foot and has an arching handle on either side of the shoulder. The tall neck rises to a thick, overhanging rim that perhaps once accommodated a lid. Inside the neck is a petite area of white pigment bearing red-painted linear motifs, this indicates Cypriot influence in decorative choice.
