Beschreibung : A distinctive karanga (Mask) of wan-nyaka (Gazelle) of the Mossi peoples of Burkina Faso and Mali. This 'big' mask, with a vertical superstructure extending 59, shaped as a flat, narrow rectangle with geometric and incised designs, antelope horns and big eyes. The sheer size and magnitude makes this 'the big mask' known as the wan-tasenga and is the principal mask used at funerals and year-end sacrifices. It is brought out less often, and does not leave the primarily village where the clan resides.
