Beschreibung : Western Europe, The Netherlands, Germany, or Venice, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of 35 glass trade beads strung in modern times on a cotton cord. The beads are large spherical and tubular shapes in hues of cobalt, amber, opaque white, semi-translucent white, black, pale pink, and light yellow. The beads could be worn as is or restrung as once desired- a single bead is large enough to be fine statement pendant on a chain! Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents. These beads were likely used in Africa amongst the Dogon people of Mali. Size (strand doubled): 30 L (76.2 cm), (beads): 1 L x 0.75 W (2.5 cm x 1.9 cm) Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection, ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
