Beschreibung : **First Time At Auction** Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A sumptuous necklace formed from dozens of faience beads with a mold-formed faience scarab amulet as the central element. Each side of the necklace forks into two strands in several areas but is overall a single-stranded composition. The faience beads are presented in tubular and seed forms and are glazed in hues of turquoise, seafoam, sage, chocolate, caramel, cobalt, and sky blue, with a few modern, gold-plated spacer beads at the junctions where the split strands meet. The faience scarab exhibits remains of green glaze with its insectile topside features. The bottom exhibits incised hieroglyphs including 2 ankhs, a heart-and-windpipe, and two sets of lotus flowers or water lilies. Capped with a modern tube clasp, this is a beautiful and wearable example of ancient Egyptian artistry!
