Beschreibung : Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fine selection of five mold-formed faience amulets that are covered in lustrous layers of green or blue-green glaze. First are a trio of slender perfume vials shaped like classic alabastrons with tapered bases and perforated upper suspension loops. Second is an effigy of Thoth - the god of writing and intelligence - in his baboon-headed form depicted striding atop an integral plinth, a suspension hole is drilled laterally through the top of the back pillar. The largest amulet features a hedgehog walking atop an integral plinth with incised grooves indicative of its spines. Size of largest (hedgehog): 0.75 L x 0.625 W (1.9 cm x 1.6 cm) Provenance: ex-Phoenicia Holyland Antiquities, New York, New York, USA, ex-private Goodstein collection, New York, USA, acquired in 1990s All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
