Beschreibung : EGYPTIAN CORN MUMMY IN FALCON HEADED WOODEN COFFIN, FROM THE LATE PERIOD, WOOD, LINEN, MUD, WAX, GILDING AND PAINT the black and gilded coffin contains a counterfeit ritual mummy comprised of mud, seeds and grain enveloped in linen bandages instead of actual human remains, ancient Egyptians moistened the seeds in a ritual ceremony in the belief that they would germinate and provide eternal life for the deceased - NOTE: -Art Loss Register certificate ALR Ref: 12047.WK certifies this lot has not been registered as stolen with The Art Loss Register. -The F.B.I. does not have this work listed as stolen in their National Stolen Art File h:19.50 w:6 d:6 in. Provenance: Egypt until the 1940's purchased in Egypt bought it back into the United States in the 1940's, after doing work in the country of Egypt (Walters Museum of Art 2005, p. 6, fn. 12) by Arthur I.
