Anmerkung : The dwarf-like figure of Bes was regarded as a protective deity who averted the evil eye and helped woman in childbirth, as well as protecting children through to adulthood. His image is found on head rests, beds, mirrors and cosmetic pots, his amulets are most often made of glazed composition, sometimes polychrome.
