Beschreibung : Colon figure Baule, Elfenbeinküste wood, polychrome paint, a standing male figure rising from a high, circular base, carved with sandals, shorts and necklace, crowned by an oval head with regular facial features, scarification marks and elaborate grooved coiffure, min. dam., insect caused damage (base, legs), slight signs of abrasion, on metal base, common to all figures like this is their origin in the contact between Euopeans and Africans. Usually, they show elements of the traitional sculpture style of the region. More often than not, the African artists allow wit and criticism to enter into their sculpture.
